About UGICT-CGT TECHNIP Union

A short introduction

Present at TECHNIP since it's creation more than 40 years ago, our Union is the leading union at TECHNIP FRANCE. It played a major part in obtaining the social status now in force at TECHNIP FRANCE. This year's election of personnel representatives promoted UGICT-CGT TECHNIP to the position of leader, both as executives' representative and as non-executives' representative. In 1999, we actively campaigned to obtain the creation of a European Group Committee and during the very first meeting with our freshly appointed chairman D. VALOT, we asked for TECHNIP's adhesion to Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Entreprises and Social Policy of the ILO, as the basis of negotiation of a Global Social Policy for the TECHNIP GROUP.

In 1984-1985-1986, TECHNIP went through a severe crisis and, as usual, the solution found by top management was to fire hundreds of Employees. Throughout this period, the UGICT-CGT TECHNIP Union supported the Personnel. "Yes to TECHNIP": On the top of LA DEFENSE most famous building (the Arch was not yet built) - where today the Chairman organizes information meetings for Paris Employees - you can see UGICT-CGT Union representatives fixing a message to be read by all Employees in the Group's head office adjacent to the tent-shaped CNIT.

Today, the Internet is another monument on which to write our message to defend the rights of Employees throughout the world.
