July 26, 2004
After 07.08.04 shop-stewards’/HRM meetingUGICT CGT trade union informs youRequest for a 2,5 % across the board wage rise for year 2004Technicians and clerks were granted a 1.5 % across the board wage rise in January, but all Supervisors and Executives, i.e. more than 80 % of TECHNIP FRANCE’s employees, were excluded from this measure. There has been no across the board wage rise for Supervisors and Executives since 1999. Official inflation over the last 12 months is 2.4%, and officially estimated inflation for 2004 is also 2.4%. However, HRM rejected our request for an across the board 2.5% wage rise, without any argument. Individual salary rises only make up for inflation (or not)Individual salary rises for TECHNIP FRANCE’s employees are in July, outside executives whose salary rises are in January. This year, only 2.9% for Supervisors and 1.6 % for Technicians and Clerks, have been granted for individual salary rises. Even promotion to next position did not involve in some cases more than 2.9 %. For those left out, purchase power has decreased by 2.4%. For most employees, individual salary rise only makes up, partly or totally, for inflation. Increase of the compensation paid to interns from French grandes écolesMany interns from French grandes écoles actually work in teams, but they are only granted a small compensation. Our request for a rise was rejected. Information of employees regarding surveillance video camerasA panel in the lobby of TECHNIP tower will inform all residents of the location of the 80 cameras used for safety surveillance, outside and inside the building, and of personal data protection rights. Internet filtering systemRequests addressed to Acces-Sites-Internet/TECHNIP@TECHNIP by persons requiring access to websites filtered by Websense "are being processed". Although this system is supposed to prevent access to illicit websites, which is legitimate, it aims at improving productivity, but fails since, on the contrary, it makes professional search engine use longer and often fruitless. Problems affecting ITProblems had not been solved yet on the day of the meeting. HRM informed us that problems were being solved and that new systems installed should bring material improvements. However, HRM admitted that it should have provided information to users during the period when severe problems were met. Opening of corridor doors in TECHNIP towerAccording to HRM, there are only two options available: improving air flows in the inner part of the tower by opening access doors to offices, thus letting noise and smoke enter, or closing these doors and preventing all air circulation in the central area, which is not fed with fresh air. We consider that additional air conditioning equipment should be provided. Standard workstation: purchase of furnitureStandard furniture is only purchased "according to needs", but this rule is not applied, since many workstations are equipped with rectangular tables at right angle, leaving the PC keyboard off balance and causing back pain to users. All PC and CAD workstations should be equipped with standard ergonomic rounded tables. HVAC in Delalande buildingFrigories should be re-distributed since many offices are now empty. Although HRM said that no decision has been made yet concerning our finally leaving Delalande building, since the new lease allows lease termination with six months notice, residents seem to expect to all move to TECHNIP tower soon. TECHNIP tower restaurant remodeling projectHRM considers TECHNIP’s tower remodeling as a "priority". Several options are available and final decision shall be made in September. All residents expect the restaurant system to be fully modified and wish return to the self-service system. Full remodeling is expected and not re-decoration. Fountains and electric connections are to be repaired soon. TECHNIP tower lobby remodeling projectAlthough remodeling was promised, only furniture will be changed. This should leave a sufficient budget to remodel the restaurant. HRM accepted to improve the workstations of the staff at the information desk. Lift blocking in TECHNIP towerNo lift blocking has been recorded over the last quarter, except the goods lift. Light signals indicating whether the lift goes up or down are often faulty. All problems should be reported to 3666 (a telephone is available in central corridors). TECHNIP tower parking lotA rack will be provided for bicycles. HRM refused to paint disabled persons’ parking areas blue. Motorcycles should be parked in lower floors if the area on first floor is full. Memento: Employees’ representativesA Memento in the intranet gives useful phone numbers and procedures, but omits to mention the Health and Safety Committee, Shop Stewards, and Employees’ Unions. This omission will be corrected. Publishing of NRE and Global Compact reportsInformation concerning environmental issues to be included in the report required by French NRE law is included in the report for 2003 (see TECHNIP’s website, pages 30 to 33). However social information must also be included in NRE report (see our website, www.cgttp.eu.org, English section) and it seems that TECHNIP failed to publish this social report. The report published within the scope of the Global Compact should be issued soon, according to HRM, but no information was given concerning its scope (see our website, and UN Global Compact site). Mutual health insuranceThe mutual health insurance company covering all TECHNIP FRANCE employees in addition of French Social Security is informed of all changes of address. |
