TECHNIP’s European Works Council

Special Negotiation Body members signed an agreement on June 30, 2004 for the creation of TECHNIP’s European Works Council.

This agreement defines the purpose, members and organization of the Works Council.

Definition of European Works Councils is set out in the European directive:

-  Summary
-  Council Directive 97/74/EC of 15 December 1997

First meeting of TECHNIP’s European Works Council is scheduled for September 2004.

TECHNIP’s European Works Council will meet twice a year. Contacts developed during these meetings between the Works Council members will help information to circulate between members and solidarity between employees in the different entities of the Group to develop. There is one members from each EEC country where the Group is present (Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, U.K.), plus two extra members from France and one extra member from Finland and one from Italy, on the basis of the number of employees of the Group in these countries.

Our goal is to help this first international social dialogue entity in the Group to be a useful tool for employees in all countries concerned to raise to an equal level the social standards rights and benefits in all European countries.

Competition between the Group’s entities is fruitless: our goal is to promote the idea of a common Declaration of all members of the European Works Council rejecting project workhours relocation on the basis of wage inequalities in Europe.
